About the Zones

The Zones of Regulation is a framework used by schools and therapists to help people understand and manage how they feel. Everyone moves between different zones throughout the day β€” and that's completely normal.

The four zones

πŸ”΅ Blue Zone
Sad Β· Tired Β· Sick Β· Bored

Low energy, slow, or withdrawn. You might feel like you don't want to do much. The Blue Zone isn't bad β€” sometimes we need rest β€” but it can make it hard to engage with the world.

🟒 Green Zone
Happy Β· Calm Β· Focused Β· Relaxed

The ready-to-go zone. You feel regulated, in control, and able to learn, connect and get things done. This is where we all aim to spend most of our time.

🟑 Yellow Zone
Frustrated Β· Worried Β· Silly Β· Excited

Heightened but still in control. You have more energy β€” sometimes too much. With the right strategies you can usually bring yourself back to Green from here.

πŸ”΄ Red Zone
Angry Β· Terrified Β· Elated Β· Out of control

Intense feelings that are hard to manage. It's difficult to make good decisions in the Red Zone. The priority is safety and calming β€” not problem-solving. This takes time and support.

How to use this app

1
Check in regularly. Tap Record my zone whenever you notice how you're feeling β€” morning, after school, before bed, or whenever something shifts.
2
Try an activity. The app suggests a calming or energising strategy for your zone. You don't have to do it β€” but give it a go when you can.
3
Add a note. A few words about what happened or how you're feeling helps you (and trusted adults) understand patterns over time.
4
Review your data. The charts show which zones you visit most, and when. Spotting patterns is the first step to feeling more in control.
